Phthalate Work Group Facilitation

Concerned by ubiquitous phthalate recontamination at sediment cleanup sites, the cities of Tacoma and Seattle, King County, Washington State Department of Ecology, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntarily came together in 2006 to form the Sediment Phthalates Work Group (the Work Group). The Work Group’s goal was to summarize and evaluate existing information on phthalate occurrence, sources, source control, and management options. This work built a common understanding from which the group identified data gaps and provided recommendations to address phthalate sediment contamination for regulatory agencies and the community to consider. Floyd|Snider facilitated monthly meetings and provided documentation services to the group in the form of monthly meeting notes and a final Work Group report of findings. Floyd|Snider assisted the Work Group in developing a Summary of Findings and Recommendations document in September 2007.
