F|S Completes a Successful Expansion of the LNAPL Recovery System at Todd Pacific Shipyards

As part of the Soil and Groundwater Operable Unit for the Harbor Island Superfund Site in coordination with the USEPA, Floyd|Snider recently completed the installation of three new light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) recovery wells, trenching, and subsurface piping to two central recovery sheds at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle, WA. Challenges in the project included significant known and unknown subsurface utilities and structures, and coordinating with the shipyard to minimize operational impacts. Floyd|Snider prepared a work plan for the USEPA, developed construction plans and specifications and bidding documents, and provided construction oversight and management services. The LNAPL recovery system now consists of seven active recovery wells and has recovered over 300,000 gallons of LNAPL. Floyd|Snider will continue to provide operation and maintenance assistance throughout the operation of the system and will work with USEPA until the LNAPL recovery is complete.
