Harbor Island Dock Demo Project Featured in Civil Engineering Magazine

Vibratory Hammer Pile Pulling at the Harbor Island Dock Demolition Project

Floyd|Snider was featured for their recent work with King County to remove a deteriorated dock at the former Fisher Mills on Harbor Island. This project was featured in the February 2024 issue of ASCE’s Civil Engineering Magazine.

In 1911, Fisher Mills acquired the Harbor Island facility, establishing a flour mill, and constructing timber docks that extended into the West Duwamish Waterway. The flour mill was closed in 2002 and by 2018 King County had acquired the property where docks were deteriorating and collapsing into the water.

In 2018, Floyd|Snider was hired to provide environmental and permitting consulting services for demolition of the docks containing creosote piles. The existing decayed dock needed to be removed without potentially contaminating the waterway and maintaining the beach below in a stable condition.
